Shelby Turnbough is a Senior Client Advocate at Willis Towers Watson Southeast, Inc. with 25 years in the insurance industry. She has extensive experience with handling the insurance and risk management needs of construction clients.
Role at Willis Towers Watson
Shelby has experience working at all levels of the client service process and is known for having a highly technical knowledge and understanding of insurance, risk management and contractual risk transfer concepts and the ability to identify exposure traps and offer solutions. Her background includes experience in the following areas:
•Negotiating and placing Property and Casualty insurance programs and addressing individual, project-specific needs as they arise
•Reviewing client contracts for onerous or outdated requirements and/or compliance issues
•Assisting clients at all stages of project management, including estimating, start-up, operations and job close-out
•Navigating complicated insurance topics, including joint ventures, owner-controlled and contractor-controlled insurance programs and loss sensitive insurance programs
•Managing Builder’s Risk programs and project-specific placements
•Addressing owner-provided versus contractor-provided Builder’s Risk issues
•Assisting with development and maintenance of subcontractor insurance compliance programs, including insurance requirements, verification procedures, standards for accepting or rejecting coverage and staff training

Shelby received her Bachelor of Arts from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in Lynchburg, Virginia. She is a licensed Property Casualty Insurance Producer and holds the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation.

Whit joined WTW in 2019 and is based out of Birmingham, AL. Prior to joining WTW, Whit was a casualty broker for one of the largest wholesale brokerage firms in the industry. His experience working in the Excess & Surplus Lines market provides him with an “outside the box” approach to solving problems for his clients.

Education and Credentials
Whit graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor’s in Marketing and Sales. He currently holds a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation. Whit was selected to the WTW Emerging Construction Professionals group and is an active member of the Alabama chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc.
