About this Event

Participants are invited to attend an informative presentation focused on mental health awareness and connecting individuals to local support services. This presentation aims to help community members better understand mental health by exploring common signs and symptoms as it intersects with trauma. Presenters will address the importance of fostering empathy and encouraging open conversations on mental wellbeing in the workspace. 

Attendees will also be guided through the variety of services offered by the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay. We will explore practical steps on how to seek help, connecting to programs, and what to expect when engaging in mental health services.

Shayla Gonzalez, Sexual Assault Services and Mental Health Ambassador, Crisis Center of Tampa Bay
Shayla Gonzalez graduated from the University of South Florida (USF) with a bachelor's degree in criminology and a minor in forensic behavioral health. Ms. Gonzalez, in her undergraduate career, worked alongside the USF SPRUCE Lab by aiding project leaders through conducting literature reviews and collecting data on the impacts mental health services have on the community of Tampa Bay. Once graduated, Ms. Gonzalez completed her internship with the Crisis Center of Tampa, receiving practical and applicable experience in working with survivors of sexual assault. Ms. Gonzalez was then on-boarded as the Sexual Assault Services and Mental Health Ambassador, providing awareness on human trafficking through practical trainings on the subject. 

Jennifer Moore, Chief Development Officer, Crisis Center of Tampa Bay
Jennifer began her career in fundraising for non-profit organizations within months of college graduation. She has been able to diversify her experience working for community non-profits and universities. In 2016 she obtained her CFRE and now serves as the Chief Development Officer for the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay. She is passionate about helping those in her local community. Jennifer is also active in a number of organizations, including the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Leadership Tampa alumni, and the MacDill Honorary Commander program.
